LANGHORNE, Pa. – Gwynedd Mercy defeated Cairn University Tuesday evening 3-1 (23-25, 25-23, 25-15, 25-18).

Aybria Purnell had a big night contributing a team-high 19 kills, 19 digs and 3 blocks in the victory. Bridget McTamney also recorded a double-double with 18 digs, 37 assists as well as 4 aces.

Lauren Yancer led the Griffins in digs with 28 and also had 3 assists and 3 blocks. Defensively, Lexi Lane came up big with 4 blocks.

Although the Griffins battled closely with the Highlanders in the first set, Cairn grabbed the victory by 2 points. Gwynedd came battling back immediately in the second set tallying the first three points. Through even set play, the Griffins came out on top after capitalizing on two kills, a Cairn error and a service ace.

In the third set, the Griffins found their groove going on both a 7-point and 5-point streak to secure a dominate win. In the fourth and final set, Gwynedd took care of business and earned the match victory.

Gwynedd's next match is Wednesday, September 29th at 7:00 p.m. against Penn State Berks.
