ASTON, PA. -- The Gwynedd Mercy Men's Lacrosse Team traveled to Neumann for an Atlantic East Conference matchup but were on the wrong end of an 18-8 decision on Wednesday afternoon.
Sam Flamma and
Justin Carney each netted two goals to pace the Griffin scoring attack.
Jason Eide,
Lucas Gray,
Evan Yanuzzi, and
Cameron Ostroff also tallied but Gwynedd fell into an early deficit from the Knights.
After Ostroff's goal to open the scoring in the first quarter, Neumann potted the next five, including a late score with seconds frame for a 5-1 lead. Down 6-2 heading into the third quarter, the squad put together a scoring burst, netting three of the next five scores to get within 8-5 midway in the stanza. The Knights however assembled another five-goal spurt to go up 13-5.
A pair of man-up goals from Eide and Carney late in the third gave the Griffins life, but Neumann outscored GMercyU 5-1 in the final quarter to help salt the outcome.
Colin Blake totaled six goals and three assists Neumann. Wyatt Belotti added four scores and Drew Conlon potted three for the home team.
Goalie
Chase McFeeley notched 15 saves on the day. Carney led in the groundball department with seven while Eide racked up six.
Gwynedd Mercy will host Marywood for a big AEC showdown this Saturday in a 1 p.m. start.
