Men's Lax Suffers Setback At Immaculata

IMMACULATA, PA. -- Gwynedd Mercy fell at Immaculata, 9-5, Saturday evening in an Atlantic East Conference matchup.

For the Griffins, Kohler Setley totaled three points on two goals and an assist. Jason Eide and Tyler Long had a goal and a helper respectively while Jaxson Peoples added a tally.

Goalie Chase McFeeley recorded 17 saves, his second most in a game.

Steven Long led all scorers with five points, notching four goals and adding an assist for the Mighty Macs. Teammate Sean Evans chipped in three goals for the home team.

GMercyU outshot IU, 43-39, had eight fewer turnovers, and were a perfect 24-for-24 on its clears, but the team had a tough hill to climb after falling behind 7-2 at the half.

Immaculata netted three goals in the first quarter before Setley put the Griffins on the board off an assist from Eide. Long and Evans stretched the IU lead to four before Eide made it 5-2. Long and Evans struck again before the end of the quarter, the last coming with just under a minute before the break.

Setley set up Long on a man-up score to begin the third. Peoples added the second man-up goal of the quarter with 4:51 remaining.

Cole Metzger made 13 of his 20 saves in the second half for the Mighty Macs.

The team will reconvene on Wednesday when they travel to Neumann for a conference showdown.
