GWYNEDD VALLEY, PA. -- Gwynedd Mercy stepped foot back on the basketball court for the first time in over a calendar year, and came away with an 89-71 victory over Cabrini in the team's season debut on Wednesday.
Four starters finished in double figures, led by Jay'Lyn Peebles, who netted a career-high 18 points.
Manny Clark added a personal-best 17 while
Jordan Perkins kicked in 14 and
Donaven Spencer with 11 respecitvely.
Justin Collins was the team leader on the glass, pulling in 10 rebounds.
The Griffins hit eight of their nine three-pointers in the first half as the squad built a double-digit lead throughout. Collins hit from downtown late in the half to give Gwynedd a 45-28 edge at halftime.
The team shot over 45% in each half to help keep a comfortable cushion in the second.
Christian Isopi's three-point play with 6:56 remaining gave GMercyU its largest lead of the game (79-54).
For the Cavaliers, Christian Lane finished with 17 points while teammate Aquil Stewart registered 16.
Clark also reached a career high with five assists while Collins had personal bests in points (7) and boards (10).
Gwynedd Mercy will return to action tomorrow night when they welcome Immaculata as part of Senior Night. Tip of is slated for 7 p.m.
