Gwynedd Valley, PA. -- The Griffins Field Hockey Team defeated conference foe Immaculata Mighty Macs 1-0 on Saturday afternoon.
Both teams held each other scoreless in the first half despite shots from
Caitlyn Thornton and
Lauren Jani, but the Griffins remained relentless in pursuit of the win.
The lone goal came from senior,
Kaci Murray, with 11 seconds left in the third when she sunk the ball of a corner. Murray had a stellar game on the defensive end for the Griffins as well shutting down the Macs' attack and holding them to zero shots.
Julia Levase picked up 5 saves for Immaculata.
Head Coach,
Alex Calder reflected on today's game, "The team fought hard today and never gave up. Our offense was strong and defensively, we held Immaculata to no shots. I am super proud of how we played and look forward to carrying this momentum into the remainder of conference play."
The Griffs will be back in action this Tuesday as they host Marywood at 6pm.
