Gwynedd Valley, Pa. - (10/12/2021) - Senior attack Lauren Jani (Coopersburg, Pa.) had a stick in every Griffin goal as she scored Gwynedd Mercy University (4-9, 2-0) the first goal of the game (1-0, 5:43), found freshman attack Amber Sims (Perkasie, Pa.) for the go-ahead goal early in the second quarter (2-1, 15:57), and located freshman attack Cheyenne Avellino (Egg Harbor, N.J.) for the eventual game-winning goal (3-1, 43:07) in a 3-2 final. The Pacers put the pressure on in the closing frame, cutting the deficit to a goal midway through the fourth quarter, 3-2 (52:47), and drawing a penalty corner in the closing seconds. The restart netted a shot fired wide of freshman goalkeeper Morgan Lawless (Bristol, Pa.), who earned her third straight win (4-9) with three saves.

Jani, Avellino, and senior defender Kaci Murray (Chalfont, Pa.) recorded two shots apiece. Sims' score accounted for the seventh Griffin shot, while Murray also made two defensive saves for Gwynedd Mercy University.

Gwynedd Mercy University briefly breaks from AEC play tomorrow, Wednesday, October 13, to host Misericordia University for a 4:00 p.m. contest.
