Gwynedd Valley, Pa. - (10/5/2021) - Gwynedd Mercy University (6-11, 0-1) opened their Atlantic East Conference (AEC) schedule tonight as they welcomed Cabrini University (5-11, 1-0) to the Griffin Athletic Complex. The Cavaliers edged out the Griffins in the first (25-18) and second (25-20), before separating themselves by a 25-12 margin in the third set; 3-1 (25-18, 25-20, 25-12).

Sophomore outside hitter Aybria Purnell (Reading, Pa.) led the Griffin offensively with seven points as she totaled six kills and an ace. In support, senior setter Bridget McTamney (Conshohocken, Pa.) offered two kills, 16 assists, and nine digs, while senior libero Ashley Morris (Quakertown, Pa.) recorded a kill, two assists, and a team-high 22 digs.

Gwynedd Mercy University breaks from AEC play on Friday, October 8, when they travel to Goucher College for a 7:00 p.m. opening serve.
