The Griffins stayed a step ahead of the Cyclones until a late 10-3 run separated Gwynedd Mercy University for an eventual 25-14 victory. In the second set, the home team held a 21-16 advantage before a determined Griffin effort evened the frame at 24-24 and won it with a pair of kills from sophomore outside hitter

Julia Rabe (Virginia Beach, Va.), Morris, and McTamney all played a role in the run the brought the Griffins to the victory.
Brown and Purnell both recorded seven kills; the former did so on a .545 (7K-1E-11TA) hitting percentage. McTamney totaled two kills, 21 assists, four aces, and four digs, while Morris recorded a kill, an assist, three aces, and a team-high eight digs.
