Hackettstown, N.J. - (10/27/2021) - Senior setter Bridget McTamney (Conshohocken, Pa.) and sophomore middle hitter Ashley Brown (Lansdale, Pa.) generated the offense for Gwynedd Mercy University (9-8, 2-4), while senior libero Ashley Morris (Quakertown, Pa.) anchored the Griffin defense; the result was a second straight 3-0 (25-14, 26-24, 25-19) Atlantic East Conference (AEC) victory.

The Griffins stayed a step ahead of the Cyclones until a late 10-3 run separated Gwynedd Mercy University for an eventual 25-14 victory. In the second set, the home team held a 21-16 advantage before a determined Griffin effort evened the frame at 24-24 and won it with a pair of kills from sophomore outside hitter Aybria Purnell (Reading, Pa.), 26-24. The finisher was a 25-19 win that came with a late Gwynedd Mercy University streak; sophomore outside hitter Julia Rabe (Virginia Beach, Va.), Morris, and McTamney all played a role in the run the brought the Griffins to the victory.

Brown and Purnell both recorded seven kills; the former did so on a .545 (7K-1E-11TA) hitting percentage. McTamney totaled two kills, 21 assists, four aces, and four digs, while Morris recorded a kill, an assist, three aces, and a team-high eight digs.

Gwynedd Mercy University concludes their regular season schedule on Friday, October 27, when they visit Kean University for a 7:00 p.m. opening serve.
