Union, N.J. - (10/29/2021) - Gwynedd Mercy University (9-19) completed their regular season schedule with tonight's 3-0 (25-20, 25-8, 25-11) loss at Kean University (15-10). The Griffins gave their best defense in the opening set as they held an 8-4 lead and paced the Cougars to a 13-13 tie before the home side separated for a 25-20 win. The point spurred Kean University for wins of 25-8 and 25-11 in the following frames; they hit .313 (33K-8E-80TA) overall and an impressive .438 (7K-0E-16TA) in the middle set.

Sophomore outside hitter Aybria Purnell (Reading, Pa.) led the Gwynedd Mercy University offense with seven points (6 kills, ace). Senior setter Bridget McTamney (Conshohocken, Pa.) facilitated 13 assists along with her three kills, an ace, and four digs. Senior libero Ashley Morris (Quakertown, Pa.) chipped in with two kills, an assist, two aces, and a team-high eight digs.

Gwynedd Mercy University will serve as the #5 seed for the upcoming 2021 Atlantic East Conference (AEC) Women's Volleyball Championship Tournament and will travel to Marywood University for a 7:30 p.m. Opening Round match on Tuesday, November 2.
