Gwynedd Valley, Pa. - (10/21/2021) - Gwynedd Mercy University (7-18) welcomed Rutgers University - Camden (15-8) to the Griffin Complex for this evening's match. The Griffins got off to a strong star as senior setter Bridget McTamney (Conshocken, Pa.) scored them a late 19-15 advantage in the opening set. Unfortunately, Rutgers University  responded with five of the next six points, 20-20, and five of the last six points in a 25-21 win. The visitors improved on their position with a 25-19 win in the second set and put the match to rest with a 25-18 win in the third frame; 3-0 (25-21, 25-19, 25-18).

McTamney totaled three kills, 22 assists, an ace, and a team-high 21 digs. She was helped on offense by sophomores, outside hitter Aybria Purnell (Reading, Pa.) and middle hitter Ashley Brown (Landsdale, Pa.); both recorded seven kills, the latter hit .207 (7K-1E-29TA). Seniors, defensive specialist Lauren Yancer (Southampton, Pa.) and libero Ashley Morris (Quakertown. Pa.) each made 13 digs.

Gwynedd Mercy University returns to the Griffin Complex on Tuesday, October 26, to host Immaculata University for a 6:00 p.m. Atlantic East Conference (AEC) match. Prior to the opening serve, the Gwynedd Mercy University women's volleyball program will recognize McTamney, Yancer, and Morris in a celebratory Senior Night ceremony.
