Sharkey Selected Recipient of Donahue-Elliot Award

GWYNEDD VALLEY, PA. -- Alyson Sharkey was named the recipient of the 2019-20 Donahue-Elliot Award which is presented to the graduating senior-athlete who has the highest GPA majoring in Business Administration.

Members of the Gwynedd Mercy Athletic Department including Athletic Director Keith Mondillo, Cross Country/Track & Field Head Coach Joe Dare, Sports Information Director Chris Panter, Head Women's Lacrosse Coach/Assistant Sports Information Director Shannon Algeo, and Department Secretary Joanna Talarico all joined on Zoom along with Sharkey to break the good news. The award is usually given out at the Senior Athlete Banquet held every year at the end of the academic year.

The award is named after Joe Donahue and Tom Elliot, two former Griffin Student-Athletes.

Sharkey is an Accounting/Business Administration major who is a member of our Cross Country and Track & Field Teams. At the 2019 Atlantic East Conference Outdoor Track & Field Championship, she collected a pole vault title, then took second in the 400 meters and finallly third in 400 hurdles (1:12.07) and in the 200 meters final (27.95) to score four all-conference honors.
