GWYNEDD VALLEY, PA. -- Gwynedd Mercy notched their second shutout in program history as the Griffins defeated Bryn Athyn, 19-0, Tuesday afternoon.
11 different Griffins found the back of the net led by
Derek Alcavage and
John McCreary who each scored four.
Nick Freda and
Jacob Dzierzgowski had two apiece with
Cameron Ostroff,
Lucas Gray,
Kohler Setley,
Ryan Gartenmayer,
Nick Heiler,
Luke Xanthopoulos, and
Zach Wallen also tallied for GMercyU, who won their third game in a row.
The goalie trio of
Chase McFeeley,
Aubron Swartley, and
Dylan Kreitzer combined to hold an opponent without a goal since a 15-0 home victory over Rosemont back on April 25, 2018.
On faceoffs,
Joey Giordano won 12-of-13 while collecting a game-high eight groundballs. Defensively, the team totaled eight caused turnovers, with two coming from
Philip Weis and
Joe Amper each.
Bryn Athyn goalie Tristan Banks was kept busy, making 18 saves on the day.
Gwynedd Mercy will welcome DeSales on Saturday here beginning at 3 p.m.
