ARLINGTON, VA. -- Gwynedd Mercy suffered their second Atlantic East Conference defeat of the season, falling 81-75 at Marymount Wednesday evening.
For Gwynedd,
Rich Dunham paced the scoring with a game-high 26 points while
Donaven Spencer recorded a career-high 17 points. The team was just under 40% shooting for the game, but made a season-low two three-pointers in the game, both coming in the first half.
In that first half, Dunham scored 18 points, including the last five of a 20-4 run to start the game. Marymount's Steve Etienne hit two free throws to cut the lead to nine (25-16) with 7:40 in the period. From there, the Saints pulled even with Gwynedd as the teams were locked at 37-37 at the break.
Spencer's bucket underneath knotted it at 53-53 midway through the second, but the Saints did not relinquish the lead. GMercyU got within four (77-73) with under a minute and did not get any closer en route to the final score.
Gwynedd Mercy plays at Neumann on Saturday in a conference matchup in Aston.
