ABINGTON, PA. -- Gwynedd Mercy and Penn State-Abington battled in five sets but it was the Nittany Lions prevailing, 3-2 (26-24, 19-25, 25-27, 25-17, 15-12).
Madelyn Mosser broke her own career high by totaling 18 kills, which was also a match high. The junior also chipped in nine digs and five blocks.
Liz Schule kicked 12 kills while
Bridget McTamney added her second-straight double-double (32 assists/14 digs).
After falling in the first set, the Griffins won the next two to go up 2-1. PSU-Abington totaled 13 kills in the fourth to force a fifth and deciding set.
Samantha Link was one of four players to hit double-digit kills for Abington with a team-high 16.
The Griffins have their first home matches of the season on Saturday when they welcome King's and Penn State-Brandywine in a tri-match starting at 11 a.m.
