Schule added three aces, and in doing so moved fourth place on the all-time career list. The senior now has 145 in her career.
Prior to the match, the team recognized another all-time record broken as
Cait Saalfrank was presented with an award by the coaching staff for becoming the program's all-time dig leader in last weekend's match against Albright.
In the first set, the Gators put together a 6-1 spurt to take an early 8-6 lead. Gwynedd stayed close throughout but could only get as close as 19-17 off a block from Mosser and
Layne Morgan before Notre Dame was able to cement the 25-20 win.
The second set featured scoring stretches by both teams to tilt the lead back and forth. A kill from
Kaylee Craig put GMercyU up 10-8 before the Gators scored seven points in a row. Now down 17-12, it was the Griffins' turn to rally, as a 5-0 run capped off with a kill from Morgan tied things up at 17-17. However, Notre Dame produced a 8-1 stretch to go up 2-0.
Schule was on fire in the third set, notching seven of her 12 kills. Another block from Mosser and McTamey made it 10-7 and later an ace from Saalfrank upped the lead to 14-10. The Gators ran off five-straight points to force a Griffin timeout. Now tied at 22-22, Notre Dame's Kayleigh Davis recorded kills for their final three points to complete the 3-0 victory.
Davis led all attackers with 14 kills, seven of which came in the third set.
The team will host Goucher on Friday at 7 p.m. to help kick off homecoming's Red and Gold weekend.
