Men's Soccer Uses Late Tally To Get Past Lions

BRYN ATHYN, PA. -- Gwynedd Mercy earned their second win a row with a comeback effort in the Griffin's 2-1 non-conference win at Bryn Athyn on Saturday.

Hugh Lynch scored with just over 15 minutes left in regulation, which turned out to be the game winner. The goal was the second for the sophomore on the season. Kevin Bowers drew the assist.

The Lions took a 1-0 lead in the 15th minute into the game on a goal by Pete Comas.

The Griffins tweaked their strategy after half time putting together some early scoring chances in the second. Just five minutes into the frame, Evan Kirby found Tyler Bascone who tied up the game. The goal was Bascone's second this year. Evan Kirby was credited with the assist.

Goalie Tyler Blair made five saves, including a crucial stop in the latter stages of the second to help secure the 2-1 win.

Gwynedd Mercy finished the game with 19 shots to Bryn Athyn's 12.  D.J. Eldridge registered six stops for Bryn Athyn.

The Griffins will be back in action on Monday as they travel to FDU-Florham for a 7 p.m. start.
