GWYNEDD VALLEY, PA. -- The Griffins got a balanced attack in defeating Delaware Valley in three sets (25-19, 25-8, 25-18) at The Griffin Complex Tuesday night.

Liz Schule led all attackers with 12 kills. She and Bridget McTanmey each had five aces as Gwynedd Mercy held off the Aggies in set one, led from start to finish in the second set, and were able to close it out with six-straight points in the third for their fourth win on the season.

As a team, the Griffins hit 34-11-109 (.211) while racking up 15 total aces.

For the Aggies, Laura Sweger totaled six of the team's 21 kills on the night. Setter Caitlin Nemil recorded 18 assists along with 11 digs, both team highs.

In the first set, Schule and Jessica Schreiber tallied three kills apiece. Kills from Schreiber and Madelyn Mosser put the cap on a 7-1 spurt early on to break a 4-4 tie. After an ace from Cait Saalfrank to give GMercyU a 21-13 lead, Del Val netted five-straight points of their own to get within two. After a Gwynedd timeout, Schule served up a pair of aces as part of a 4-0 spurt to take set one.

Set two saw the Griffins jump out to a 9-0 lead and not look back. Schule stayed hot, registering five kills in the set.

The Aggies held a 10-9 lead in the third, before five-straight points from the Griffins looked to turn the tide for good. Del Val put together some points to make it a 19-18 contest but Gwynedd was able to lock it up with six of their own points for a 25-18 win.

Gwynedd Mercy is at Cedar Crest on Thursday in a 7 p.m. start.
