ALLENTOWN, PA. -- Cedar Crest upended Gwynedd Mercy (25-19, 25-20, 25-22) in three sets Thursday evening in a non-conference tilt.

The match featured big scoring runs from both teams as the Falcons used them in the first and third set. GMercyU unfortunately saw leads in those two sets diminish.

Liz Schule collected a team-high 10 kills with Jessica Schreiber and Madelyn Mosser chipping in six apiece.

Tied at 4-4 in the first set, the Griffins built a 12-6 lead and later a 16-11 edge. Cedar Crest rolled off nine-straight points to help regain the lead for good. In the second, Gwynedd did have a lead, but kept things close throughout. Down as much as 13-7, the team rallied to get it to one (21-20) after an acre from Natalie Danze. The Falcons scored the next four points to go up two sets.

The third set saw GMercyU run out to a 9-2 lead thanks to four kills and three aces. Again, Cedar Crest fought back to tie it at 11-11 before using an 11-4 spurt for a seven-point lead. The Griffins used a little run of their own, five points in a row to get to 22-20 but could not force a fourth set.

Britney Rivera totaled eight kills, 16 digs and four aces for Cedar Crest.

The team resumes action next Tuesday when they host Clarks Summit at 7 p.m.
