ASTON, PA. -- Neumann handed Gwynedd Mercy a 12-9 defeat in an Atlantic East Conference clash Wednesday evening.
Offensively,
Joseph Pandolfi tied a career-high with four points on three goals and an assist.
Ryan Simpson and
Jacob Dzierzgowski each netted two 2 while
Kohler Setley and
Jordan Dzierzgowski also tallied for GMercyU.
Zach Groses had personal bests with eight groundballs and two caused turnovers but the Griffins scored only once in a pivotal third quarter.
Goals from
Jordan Dzierzgowski, Pandolfi, and
Jacob Dzierzgowski helped put Gwynedd up 3-1 midway in the first however, the Knights netted four straight including three in a span of 1:04 to take a 4-3 edge. The teams swapped goals in the second before Neumann added two late scores for an 8-5 lead at halftime.
Pandolfi opened the scoring four minutes into the third quarter, but it was the only goal in the stanza as the Knights tallied four t open up the largest lead of the contest heading into the final frame.
The team outshot Neumann, 40-27, while the man-down unit killed off all seven penalties.
Eric Conlon paced the Knights with a game-high five goals.
Goalie
Aubron Swartley recorded seven saves in net. Neumann's Brendan Risley made 12 stops to give the Knights their first win over the Griffins.
Gwynedd Mercy plays at Immaculata this Saturday at 1 p.m.
