CENTER VALLEY, PA. -- The Gwynedd Mercy University Men's Lacrosse team was defeated by DeSales University 16-4 on Saturday afternoon.

Jacob Dzierzgowski, John McCreary, Joseph Pandolfi and Ryan Simpson each scored for the Griffins.

Goalie Aubron Swartley recorded eight saves while Jared Buehre recorded a stop as well.

The team was 14-of-21 on faceoffs with Nick Heiler winning 9-of-13 and Joey Giordano going 4-of-7. Zach Groses, who was also 1-for-1, collected a career-high six groundballs to lead the Griffins.

Trailing by three in the first quarter, Pandolfi would find the back of the cage to cut the lead to 3-1 after the first fifteen minutes.

The Bulldogs would answer to start the second stanza with a pair of goals but Simpson would respond with a man up tally assisted by Pandolfi to trail 5-2. DeSales would add three more goals to take an 8-2 lead at the break.

DeSales kept the Griffins scoreless in the third to take a 14-2 lead after three periods.

Gwynedd had a pair of goals in the fourth from Dzierzgowski 's unassisted tally and later a score from McCreary with 4:20 remaining assisted by Cameron Ostroff.

Joe Neggia registered a game-high six points on five goals and an assist for the Bulldogs.

The Griffins look to rebound on Wednesday when they travel to Haverford College at 4:30 p.m.
