MIDDLETOWN, PA. -- Penn State-Harrisburg recorded a three-set victory over Gwynedd Mercy (25-16, 25-15, 25-15) Thursday evening in a non-conference match.
The Griffins only totaled 17 kills with seven coming from
Madelyn Mosser who recorded seven. Libero
Cait Saalfrank anchored the back line 13 digs.
Bridget McTamney notched another double double, as the setter finished with 13 assists and 11 digs.
Brittany Ebaugh paced the Lions with a match-high 11 kills and added four blocks (three solo). As a team, Harrisburg averaged 14 kills in each set, hitting .225 on the night.
GMercy battled back from a 7-1 hole in the first set to take a 9-8 lead. Later, with a 13-12 score, Penn State went on a run of their own, a 9-0 spurt to go on and take it. In the second, the Griffins could not muster a comeback, falling in an 8-2 deficit in which they could not recover.
The Lions used a 10-4 stretch in the third to close out a 25-15 score and help cement the outcome.
Gwynedd Mercy travels to Marywood on Saturday for an Atlantic East Conference matchup as a win will help pave the path to a postseason berth.
