GWYNEDD VALLEY, PA. -- Gwynedd Mercy opened their Atlantic East Conference slate on Wednesday evening but was handed a 3-0 (25-9, 25-16, 25-13) defeat by visiting Marymount at The Griffin Complex.
Bridget McTamney paced the Griffins with her fifth-straight double double (19 assists/10 digs).
Madelyn Mosser and
Layne Morgan each had six kills but the Saints, who hit .277 (42-9-119) on the night was just too strong.
Mykael Johnson was one of four players with five or more kills, notching a match-high 11 while adding 13 digs.
In the second set, Gwynedd had their best push of the evening, turning a 10-2 deficit into a 14-12 after an ace from McTamney and a pair of kills from
Kaylee Craig. Later at 18-16 with the Griffins starting to warm up, the Saints registered seven points in a row to go up by two sets.
The team is off until Tuesday when they travel to Penn State-Berks.
