ARLINGTON, VA. -- Gwynedd Mercy and Marymount played the first Atlantic East Conference regular-season contest Wednesday night, but was the host Saints who claimed a 3-0 win. Set scores were 25-16, 25-18, and 25-15.
The Griffins (5-7, 0-1 AEC) had just 15 kills on a season-low 83 attempts.

Madelyn Mosser each registered four kills to lead GMercyU (5-7).
Cait Saalfrank recorded 19 digs while Bridget McTanmey handed out 14 assists.
Marymount had four players with five or more kills led by Mykael Johnson with a match-high seven.
After falling in the first set, Gwynedd turned a 6-5 deficit into an 8-6 lead. However the Saints (10-1, 1-0 AEC) then scored eight of the next nine points to put the Griffins in a hole they could not climb out of. In the third set, a key 7-0 run broke open an 8-8 score to help Marymount close out the match.
Gwynedd Mercy returns home on Saturday for a tri-match with Bryn Mawr and Bryn Athyn. GMercyU takes on Bryn Mawr at 10 a.m. and Bryn Athyn at 2 p.m. The in-between match pits the Lions against the Owls at noon.
