Cait Saalfrank hit the 1,000 career dig milestone as Gwynedd Mercy defeated Valley Forge, 3-0, Friday night to end a five-game skid. Set scores were 25-14, 25-13, 25-14.
Saalfrank totaled 12 digs to give her exactly 1,000 in just her sophomore season. She becomes the third player in program history to hit the mark.
The team served up 16 total aces, third-most this season and the third match in a row in reaching double figures.
Madelyn Mosser led the ace party with a season-high six while Saalfrank and
Liz Schule each added four. Mosser and Schule also led the team in kills with seven apiece.
Kerry McGlinn was tops digs, registering a match-high and career-high 17.
The Griffins used a 9-1 run late in the first set to take a double-digit lead. Another long run of points in the second, an 8-0 spurt created space in a 25-13 win. Trailing 7-6 in the third, a kill from Schule and two aces from

Gwynedd Mercy plays at Immaculata on Wednesday in the final match of the regular season needing a victory to keep their playoff chances alive.
