RADNOR, PA. -- Gwynedd Mercy fell in their season finale Wednesday night to #10 Cabrini, 18-3.
The Griffins conclude the regular season at 6-7 and 4-3 in CSAC action and will enter the postseason as the #4 seed and will head right back to Radnor to face the top-seeded Cavaliers this Saturday in a CSAC Tournament Semifinal Game with a 1 p.m. start.
Ryan Simpson scored two goals in the first quarter as GMercyU kept pace with Cabrini, trailing only 3-2 after the first 15 minutes. Cabrini (11-3, 7-0 CSAC) scored seven goals in the second, with four on the man-up, to put Gwynedd in a 10-2 deficit heading into halftime.
Timmy Brooks led Cabrini with nine points on four goals and five assists. Tyler Kostack added two scores and added five helpers.
Dominic Moscariello and
Kris Boyd each had an assist on Simpson's goal.
Eric Thomas would cap the scoring, with a late tally in the fourth. Goalie
Sean Myers made 11 saves and collected a personal-best and team-high eight groundballs.
Chris Burns also saw action in net in the fourth and recorded a save.
Saturday will mark the fifth time the Griffins have faced off with the Cavaliers in the postseason.
