RADNOR, PA. -- The Gwynedd Mercy University Men's Lacrosse team participated in the Colonial States Athletic Conference playoffs for the ninth straight year under Head Coach
Dana Lindstrom on Saturday. The fourth-seeded Griffins fell to the top seed and nationally-ranked Cabrini 16-3 in the semifinal round.
It was a rematch of the two teams from their regular season finale just three days ago, also in Radnor. The game was also the fifth postseason meeting as well.
Senior goalie
Sean Myers recorded a career-high fifteen saves in goal for GMercyU.
Chris Burns added three.
Derek Alcavage,
Jordan Dzierzgowski and
Ryan Simpson all scored a goal for the Griffins (6-8).
Alcavage put GM on the board in the second quarter; however, the Griffins would trail 8-1 at the halftime break.
In the third, Dzierzgowski scored his 18th goal of the year to trail 11-2. Simpson scored in the 4th on an assist from
Kohler Setley. The goal for Simpson was his 22nd on the season.
Timmy Brooks led the Cavaliers (14-3) with three goals and three assists. Bill Morgan also added three scores as Cabrini will head to the conference championship for the 17th year in a row next Saturday.
The Griffins would like to thank their six seniors: Myers,
Matt Collins,
Marc Bushong,
Alfonso Manzo,
Storm Gehrke and
Jacob Snavely. Bushong leaves the program as its all-time leader in caused turnovers with 110 and the single-season record holder with 39 set this year.
