Rosemont Snaps Griffin Win Streak

ROSEMONT, PA. -- The Griffins had their four-game win streak snapped with a tough 11-10 overtime loss at Rosemont Saturday night.

Kris Boyd notched a career-high four points on three goals and an assist and Jordan Dzierzgowski and Kohler Setley added two scores each but Gwynedd (6-6, 4-2 CSAC) saw the Ravens score a late tally in regulation to force the extra session.

After Rosemont (5-10, 2-4 CSAC) scored the game's first goal, GMercyU responded with three of their own in the quarter to lead by two after 15 minutes of play. Both teams would score three tallies apiece, including a man-up goal from Dzierzgowski, his first on the season, as the Griffins held a 6-4 edge at the break.

Dominic Moscariello and Pandolfi greeted the third quarter with a pair of early scores giving Gwynedd its largest lead of the contest. Ben Koszelak scored two of Rosemont's three goals late in the third to make it a one-goal game heading into the final quarter.

After killing off a penalty to start the fourth, the Griffins found paydirt as Setley notched his second of the night 4:25 into the stanza. The Ravens potted a pair of goals both coming under a minute apart to knot things up at 9-9 midway through the quarter.

Gwynedd cashed in on a man-up opportunity with 2:54 left, as Ryan Simpson netted his team-leading third man-up goal on the season and the lead. But the Ravens would win the ensuing faceoff and get a score with 1:41 remaining in regulation.

The Griffins would have to start the overtime killing off a 30 second penalty but would get a possession after a Rosemont turnover. After a timeout, however, Gwynedd gave it back on a turnover of their own.

Koszelak would end it with his fourth goal of the night, coming with just 1:31 left in the first overtime.

Goalie Sean Myers made 10 of his 13 saves in the second half. Rosemont keeper Cassius Christie recorded 17.

Groundball honors went to Matt Collins who won a season-high six. Marc Bushong nabbed four while causing four turnovers.

Gwynedd Mercy, will close out the regular season on Wednesday at Cabrini. With a win, the Griffins can clinch the #2 seed and a home playoff game.
