EDWARDSVILLE, PA. – Goalie
Chris Burns made a career-high 13 saves while
Jordan Dzierzgowski and
Kohler Setley each netted three goals to help lead Gwynedd Mercy to an 11-6 win at Wilkes in non-conference action Wednesday afternoon.
The Griffins (2-4) scored five-straight goals to in the fourth quarter to open up a one-goal contest.
Tied 1-1 after the first and 3-3 later in the second, Setley scored his second on the day with just over a minute before the half to give Gwynedd a 4-3 edge at the break. After goals from
Dominic Moscariello and
Joseph Pandolfi in the first five minutes of the third to go up by three, Wilkes countered with two of their own from John Wink in a span of just over a minute.
Setley's third tally late in the third kickstarted a six-goal run, highlighted by a pair of scores from Dzierzgowski and a man-up goal from
Ryan Simpson.
Wink and Nicholas Ruggiero led the Colonels (3-2) with two goals apiece.
Burns picked up a game-high six groundballs while
Marc Bushong snagged five and added two caused turnovers. Simpson added two scores while rookie
Zach Getchius netted his first collegiate tally.
Gwynedd Mercy opens CSAC play on Saturday when they head to Centenary.
