GWYNEDD VALLEY, PA. -- Visiting King's snapped Gwynedd Mercy's three-match winning streak with a 3-0 (25-14, 25-5, 25-20) decision at The Griffin Complex Wednesday night.

GMercyU totaled 16 kills on the evening, six of which came from Liz Schule. Cassie McCarney and Abreeanna Bisenius each chipped in three, but a slow start made it an uphill climb.

After a back and forth affair in the first set, the Lady Monarchs turned an 11-9 lead into a 15-9 score, forcing a GM timeout. Gwynedd would get it to 17-14 off a kill from Schule, but King's rattled off eight-straight points to go ahead 1-0. The second set saw King's jump out to a 9-0 lead and not look back to put the Griffins in a big deficit.

In the third, Gwynedd put together a nice stretch of points, turning a 4-3 hole into a 7-4 lead, though King's answered with five points of their own to retake the lead. Later, the Griffins clawed their way to a 20-17 contest after a big kill from McCarney, but the Monarchs were able to close it out to end the Griffins' streak.

Kaitlyn Shifflett led King's (13-8) with a match-high 13 kills. Teammate Rachel Miller added 10 along with 10 digs as the team totaled 38 kills while hitting .286 on the evening.

The team returns to action a week from tonight right here at home when they take on Cedar Crest in a CSAC matchup starting at 7 p.m.
