GWYNEDD VALLEY, PA. -- Gwynedd Mercy suffered their fifth setback in a row in a 3-0 Colonial States Athletic Conference defeat (25-14, 25-18, 25-12) to Notre Dame of Maryland Tuesday night at The Griffin Complex.

The loss sends the Griffins to 9-16 and 3-5 in CSAC play. The Gators improve to 19-4 and 6-2.

Gwynedd produced a 17-21-91 (-.044) hitting line with Liz Schule totaling six kills, Kaylee Craig with five, and Rainah Dunham with four. Cait Saalfrank racked up 18 digs while Erin Dowd kicked in seven.

Kayleigh Davis led the Gators with a match-high 10 kills. Setter Mary Marquez notched a double-double, registering 29 assists and 11 digs. As a team, NDM was 37-12-97 (.258) on the evening.

A pair of scoring runs in the first set helped the Gators build 19-7 lead and go on and take the 25-14 score. In the second, Gwynedd tried to keep pace as a kill from Schule was the first of three points to pull within 12-11. But Notre Dame later used a 6-1 swing to go up 23-15 and go up 2-0 on the night. The third set saw the Gators close out the win with a 8-0 run leading 17-12.

With three conference games remaining, the Griffins have their work cut out for them for a playoff push. Tomorrow, they will head to Marywood in a rescheduled match from Saturday. On Thursday, the team is at Cabrini.
