Volleyball Heating Up With CSAC Win Over Rosemont

GWYNEDD VALLEY, PA. -- The Griffin Volleyball team won their fourth match in their last five games to even their record at 6-6 with a 3-0 (25-14, 25-15, 25-17) Colonial States Athletic Conference win over Rosemont Thursday night at The Griffin Complex.

Maggie Gorman had a match-high 10 kills as she was one of four players to have five or more kills on the evening. Jessica Behr contributed nine enders while Abreeanna Bisenius and Casey Griffith each had seven and six each respectively.

After the Griffins took the first set, 25-14, both teams traded leads early on. Fast forward to a 10-10 score, where GMercyU penciled seven of the next eight points to force a Ravens' timeout. An ace from Liz Schule and later a big kill from Griffith would help the Griffins go up 2-0.

Gwynedd looked to get out to a great start in the third, jumping to a 6-0 lead, but the Ravens (0-9, 0-1 CSAC) would rally for four-straight points. Gwynedd countered with a run of their own, kickstarted by a kill from Bisenius, to start an eight-point swing to up the lead to double digits (14-4). The scoring spurt ended any comeback, as Rosemont could only get as close as 22-17.

Kealohilani Naone-Carter led the Ravens with six kills, nine digs, and three aces.

The Griffins are now off until Wednesday, September 28th when they head to Cedar Crest to continue CSAC play.
