SCRANTON, PA. -- Gwynedd Mercy notched is fourth-straight victory in an 8-6 Colonial States Athletic Conference win at Marywood Saturday afternoon.
The Griffins (5-3, 2-0 CSAC) got two goals each from
Tony McCraw,
Jacob Snavely, and
Ryan Simpson as well as scores from
Tommy Belmont and
Alfonso Manzo in the win.
McCraw netted both of his tallies in the first quarter, to help GMercyU take a 3-0 lead after one. Four minutes into the second, Belmont's unassisted goal upped the lead to 4-0 before the Pacers got on the board less than a minute later.
With 6:36 to go before halftime, McCraw set up Snavely for the 5-1 advantage where it stood until the break. After the two teams traded goals to open the third, McCraw would once again find Snavely for a 7-2 lead with 5:55 in the stanza.
Marywood would then score twice to end the quarter and start the fourth by potting two more and suddenly the Griffin lead shrank to 7-6 with only 8:43 remaining in the contest. But Gwynedd responded in a big way, as Simpson added his second on the day with 3:06 left and the team kept the two-goal cushion en route to the road win.
