DOYLESTOWN, PA. --
Tony McCraw made history once again as the senior became the Gwynedd Mercy Men's Lacrosse Program's all-time leading goal scorer in a 9-7 win at Delaware Valley on Wednesday.
McCraw, who scored his 100th goal on Saturday, needed two to break the mark of 101. He would get the record-setting tally midway in the fourth quarter to break a 6-6 tie. He would finish the game with four points, as he added two assists.
Senior
Tommy Belmont and freshman
Ryan Simpson also scored twice as GMercyU (1-1) would pick up their first win of the season.
Gwynedd Mercy would trail 5-3 at halftime but thanks to two goals in the third, one each from
Marc Bushong and Simpson, things were locked up heading into the fourth.
Belmont would open the fourth with the first of his two unassisted goals at the 12:58 mark. Del Val's P.J. Rafferty would set up Nick Shendge just over two minutes later to knot the teams back once again. Tied at 6-6 and with 7:05 to go, McCraw would tally career goal #102 and more importantly the lead. The ensuing faceoff was won by Gwynedd and quickly converted to a goal, just eight seconds later, from Simpson for a two-goal lead.
Belmont would add his second on the day with 5:48 left to up the lead to three. The Aggies put one on the board with just over a minute remaining, but would draw no closer.
Rafferty led the Del Val (0-1) with five points on two goals and three assists. Shendge and Austin Sensenig also tallied twice.
Griffin goalie
Sean Myers made eight saves for his first collegiate victory. Aggie keeper Jon Fogarty recorded 10.
Gwynedd Mercy returns to action in exactly one week when they head to Haverford in a 4 p.m. start.
