CENTER VALLEY, PA. -- The Gwynedd Mercy University Women's Volleyball team continued action on Saturday at the DeSales University Invitational.
The Griffins dropped their first game of the day to Rutgers-Camden, 3-0 (25-15, 25-11, 25-10). In the nightcap against Baruch College GM fell, 3-1 (25-23, 14-25, 16-25, 13-25).
Against the Scarlet Raptors senior
Lauren Tressel (Pembroke, Ma./Pembroke) (Pembroke, Ma. / Pembroke) led the offense with five kills while sophomore
Lauren Martin (Hershey, Pa./Hershey) (Hershey, Pa. / Hershey) handed out a team high nine assists. Juniors
Laura Kirk (Saegertown, Pa./Maplewood) (Saegertown, Pa. / Maplewood) and
Rachael Hall (Moorestown, N.J./Moorestown) (Moorestown, N.J. / Moorestown) each recorded double digit digs. Hall recorded twelve while Kirk chipped in ten.
Despite winning the first set against the Bearcats 25-23, the Griffins dropped their last three sets of the Invitational. Tressel led the offensive attack again with ten kills and Martin recording twenty one assists. Kirk recorded a game high eighteen digs.
Gwynedd will return to action on Wednesday in their home-opener against Delaware Valley. First service is scheduled for 7 p.m.
