true Susquehanna 18, Gwynedd Mercy 11
BOX SCOREGWYNEDD VALLEY, PA. -- Junior
Beau Fleming (Levittown, Pa./Conwell-Egan) tied two school single-game records, going 5-for-5 with five RBI's, three doubles, and two runs scored but it was Susquehanna who had just a little more offense than the Griffins in an 18-11 defeat Monday afternoon. It was the first 'official' home game in Gwynedd Valley of the season.
Fleming's five hits and three doubles tied a program record, making him the fifth player to have five hits and the ninth to have three doubles in one game.
Both teams totaled 16 hits each, but it was the Crusaders scoring early and often to get out to a big lead.
Freshman
Jason Mulvey (Bensalem, Pa./Bensalem) contributed three hits, four stolen bases and two runs scored while
John Wallace (Linwood, N.J./Mainland) also added three hits.
Susquehanna plated three runs in each of the first three innings. The Griffins got on the board in the bottom of the third on an RBI sac fly off the bat of freshman
Brett Kozlowski (Warminster, Pa./William Tennent).
Fleming would drive in two with his two-bagger in the seventh and would clear the bags with his bases loaded double in the eighth.
Justin Cassinelli went 4-for-4 at the plate with five RBIs including a three-run homerun. Matt Cassinelli was 3-for-4 with three runs and was a homer shy of the cycle.
Freshman
Cody Brown (Royersford, Pa./Spring-Ford) took the loss, going five innings.
The Griffins (4-11) will look to regroup tomorrow when they head to Immaculata for a single CSAC contest starting at 3 p.m.
