GWYNEDD VALLEY, PA. -- Penn State-Abington battled back from an early 7-0 deficit to down the Griffins in a wild, 16-12, contest Friday afternoon.

Gwynedd took advantage of seven walks in the first two innings to score four in the first and three in the second, all on just two hits. Chris Hens (Hatboro, Pa./Hatboro-Horsham) drove in a pair with the bases loaded in the first with an single to center. In the second, two runs scored off of wild pitches and later an infield RBI single from Christian Carmolingo (Sewell, N.J./Washington Twp.) put GMercyU up 7-0.

The Lions would get on the board in the fourth with two runs and add another in the fifth to cut the lead to four. Junior Beau Fleming (Levittown, Pa./Conwell-Egan) knocked in two with his two-out bases loaded single to put the lead back up to 9-3.

A five-run sixth by Penn State-Abington highlighted by a two-run double from Jason Roselli and later a two-run home run to right from Tom Ditro. He would strike again the following inning with an RBI double as part of another five-run frame, to help give the Lions their first lead of the game.

The Griffins, who were 2-for-9 with the bases loaded and left 16 men on base on the day, got a run back in the seventh when Fleming came home off a single from freshman Mike Cavanaugh (Hatboro, Pa./Upper Moreland).

Ditro would double again and later score on a wild pitch in the top of the ninth to give PSU a four-run lead.

Gwynedd tried to answer in their final at-bat, loading the bases once again, this time with two outs, but a strikeout would end it.
