BOX SCORE

DOVER, DE. -- Gwynedd Mercy's rally ran out of time as the Griffins fell short in an 11-9 defeat at Wesley Tuesday night.

Trailing 11-6 with less than 10 minutes to play in the contest, the Griffins (6-8), put in three-straight goals, the final tally coming with 3:34 remaining. Gwynedd had two offensive possessions late in the contest, but were unable to get the equalizer.

Freshman goalie Bria Gillard (Philadelphia, Pa./Little Flower) made eight saves in each half, finishing with a season-high 16 stops.

After both teams battled to a 3-3 game midway in the first, the Wolverines would net three in a row in a two minute span to open up a lead. Senior Kelsey Yori (Folsom, Pa./Ridley) netted one of her four goals on the day right before a score from Wesley's Marvel Mckenzie. Neither team would find the back of the net over the final 9:19 of the stanza to make it a 7-4 contest at the break.

Two goals from Yori and one from Mckenzie to start the second pulled GMercyU to 8-6, but that's when the Wolverines kept Gwynedd scoreless for a stretch of 10:29, scoring three of their own to stretch the advantage.

The Griffins, who scored five of their nine goals from the eight-meter position, used two of them from junior Danae Perrymond (Pottstown, Pa./Pottstown) and one from freshman Lauren Mitros (Glenside, Pa./Bishop McDevitt). Mitros' tally came with 3:34 to play.

Yori finished with four goals and an assist, while Perrymond and Mitros each had two. Junior Brianna Greer (Philadelphia, Pa./Bishop McDevitt) also registered a goal. Senior Sara Nance (Lansdowne, Pa./Archbishop Prendergast) recorded a personal-best three caused turnovers. Yori also added six groundballs and three draws, both team highs.

Mckenzie and Kaitlyn Ennis had four goals each respectively for the Wolverines (5-9). Goalie Savanna Clough made eight saves in net.

Gwynedd Mercy tackles Keystone on Thursday night. With a win, the Griffins can clinch the final playoff spot in the CSAC Playoffs, which begin on Saturday, April 25th.
