BOX SCOREREADING, PA. -- Alvernia roughed up Gwynedd Mercy by a final score of 25-8 on Wednesday afternoon.
The Griffins totaled 13 hits, with three coming off the bat of senior
Rick Elfreth (Sicklerville, N.J./St. Augustine) and junior
Beau Fleming (Levittown, Pa./Conwell-Egan) each. Fleming added his first career home run, a three-run shot, and finished with a personal-high four RBI's.
Elfreth and Fleming had RBI singles in the top of the first for a 2-0 lead but Alvernia countered with a five spot in the bottom half. The Crusaders added three runs in the third and seven in the fourth.
Fleming would go deep in the fifth, with a three-run longball, but it was one of the few highlights on the day as Alvernia registered 20 hits.
Cameron Coons went 5-for-5 with six runs scored and two RBI's for the Crusaders (13-7).
Gwynedd Mercy (3-7) looks to get back on track tomorrow with a CSAC Doubleheader against Immaculata.
