BOX SCORE

GWYNEDD VALLEY, PA. -- The Gwynedd Mercy Women's Basketball Team secured the #3 playoff seed with a 79-63 win over Marywood in the regular season finale Friday night.

The Griffins will host #6 Rosemont on Monday night at 7 p.m. in a first-round game of the 2015 CSAC Tournament.

GM had four starters in double figures and three with double-doubles. Senior Natasha Matthews (Norristown, Pa./Norristown) netted a game-high 20 points and added 10 rebounds. Sophomore Charlotte Kucowski (Philadelphia, Pa./St. Huberts) added 12 points and 11 boards while junior Chandler DiFebbo (Phoenixville, Pa./Phoenixville) totaled 11 points and 10 caroms.

Senior Kelsey Yori (Folsom, Pa./Ridley) chipped in 17 points as the Griffins used a big first half to hold off the Pacers (16-9, 11-5 CSAC), who fell into the #4 playoff spot. Marywood will host #5 Keystone in Monday's other first-round matchup.

With the score tied at 9-9, the Griffins would go on a 21-0 run, holding Marywood without a field goal for over seven minutes. Yori would hit one of her four three-pointers on the night to give GM its largest lead of the contest (45-16) late in the stanza. Gwynedd would enter the locker room up 45-19 at the break.

Yori would hit from deep late in the second, giving the Griffins a 23-point cushion. Marywood would give a final push to get within 12 with 1:36 to go but DiFebbo would hit on four-straight tries at the free-throw line to help cement the final score.

Danielle Terranella finished with 18 points and Maddie Lavery pulled down 12 caroms as the Pacers shot 23% in the first half and would go 45% in the second.

The Griffins were 35% (27-of-77) from the field including a 7-for-20 stint from downtown. Gwynedd was able to use the charity stripe to its advantage, going 18-for-22 at the line and an important 10-for-11 in the second half alone. GM won the battle of the boards, 57-44. Their 21 offensive rebounds led to 18 second-chance points.

Monday's winners will advance to the semifinal round on Wednesday where #1 Cabrini and #2 Immaculata await.
