ASTON, PA. -- Gwynedd Mercy had four players in double figures but it was Neumann who handed the Griffins an 82-68 loss in a Colonial States Athletic Conference game Monday night.

Darnell Artis (Philadelphia, Pa./LaSalle College H.S.) (Philadelphia, Pa./LaSalle College H.S.) paced GM (16-8, 11-6 CSAC) with 16 points and four assists.
Cedric Elleby (Monroeville, N.J./Delsea) (Monroeville, N.J./Delsea) had 12 while
Brian Hennessey (Philadelphia, Pa./Father Judge) (Philadelphia, Pa./Father Judge) chipped in 11.
Julian Hyden (Trevose, Pa./Bensalem) (Trevose, Pa./Bensalem) netted 14 points off the bench.
The Knights' James Butler scored 17 of his game-high 24 points in the second half as Neumann shot 65% in the second stanza and used an 18-7 run to open the period to take a double-digit lead.
Gwynedd shot 50% in the first half and 5-of-9 from downtown in the first half. Back-to-back-to-back treys from Artis and Hyden opened up a 11-point lead (23-12) at the 10:18 mark. The lead would grow to as much as 12 with 6:44 left in the half. Neumann (15-9, 12-5 CSAC) would close the gap, ending the stanza on a 24-14 spurt to cut the GM lead to one (37-36).
After Butler's two free throws gave the Knights a 56-44 lead with just under 12 minutes to play, the Griffins scored the next seven points to cut it to five. Kevin Green nailed a trey on the next possession to up the lead back to eight (59-51).
The Griffins gave it last push, getting within 68-61 on a three-ball from Hennessey with 3:28 remaining. Neumann, however, would go 11-for-12 at the free throw line down the stretch to finalize the score.
For the contest, GM was 24-of-55 (43%) from the floor, but just 11-for-29 and 2-for-15 from long range in the second. Neumann held a 35-32 rebound advantage was able to turn 18 Griffin turnovers into 23 points.
Gwynedd Mercy closes out the regular season on Wednesday at Cabrini. With a win, the Griffins can have a chance at one of the top two playoff seeds and a first-round bye.
