BOX SCORE

HACKETTSTOWN, N.J. -- Gwynedd Mercy suffered a 75-67 defeat at the hands of Centenary Wednesday evening in CSAC action.

The Griffins, who shot over 50% in the first half, was just 9-of-31 (29%) in the second going without a field goal for a five minute span.

Junior Darnell Artis (Philadelphia, Pa./LaSalle College H.S.) was one of four players in double figures, netting 12 points and adding five assists. Sophomore Tre Moore (Pleasantville, N.J./Holy Spirit) came off the bench to score 11 points and go a perfect 3-for-3 from downtown. Both teams zoned in from behind the arc, as each squad drained 10 treys apiece.

A see-saw first half saw 10 lead changes and four ties. After a late three-pointer from senior Justin Knight (Mays Landing, N.J./Oakcrest), the Cyclones were able to get a last-second bucket to cut the GM lead to 31-28 at the half. In that stanza, the Griffins were 13-for-25 from the floor and 4-of-9 from downtown.

Djovan Beausejour's jumper gave Centenary (6-6, 3-2 CSAC) an early eight-point lead in the second (43-35), only to see the Griffins respond with an 18-6 run capped off by a Moore trifecta to swing the score 53-49. Later, a quick 9-0 Centenary run turned a 59-59 tie into a 68-59 deficit with 2:44 to go.

Artis would hit from deep to cut it to 71-67 with 48 ticks left, but the Cyclones were able to go 4-for-4 at the free-throw line to help cement the score.

Knight and junior Brian Hennessey (Philadelphia, Pa./Father Judge) finished with 10 points each respectively.

Beausejour totaled 11 points while teammate Rashaan Spencer tallied a game-high 19.

Gwynedd Mercy will look to get back on track when they host Neumann in a CSAC contest on Saturday at 2 p.m.
