Finding themselves down in an early 11-4 hole, the Griffins (7-6) responded with a 9-2 run to tie the contest 13-13 on a jumper from freshman
Juliana Hoisington (Collegeville, Pa. / Perkiomen Valley). The Griffins would stretch their lead to as much as 26-14 on a pair of Terry free throws. An
Olivia Bradford (Lansdale, Pa. / Christopher Dock) jumper gave Gwynedd a 36-23 lead heading into the break.
In the second stanza, King's would cut the lead to 40-37 but a
Kelsey Yori (Folsom, Pa. / Ridley) layup would stretch the Griffin lead back up to five. A Terry layup and three pointer would give GM a 53-45 lead with 5:50 remaining. The Griffins would hold off the Monarchs in the closing moments at the free throw line to come away with the ten point victory.
Gwynedd out-rebounded King's, 54-53, with
Charlotte Kucowski (Philadelphia, Pa. / St. Hubert's) and Bradford pulling down nine apiece.
Melissa Manning led the Monarchs (5-7) with a game-high 20 points while Kayla Feairheller chipped in 13.
The Griffins continue their road trip this week, traveling to Centenary College on Monday night for a CSAC contest. Tip-off is scheduled for 7 p.m.
