READING, PA. – Alvernia had 12 different players score a goal in defeating Gwynedd Mercy, 19-5, Wednesday evening in non-conference action.

The Griffins (6-7) were outshot, 32-13, as the Crusaders had 24 alone in the first half en route to a 13-3 lead at the break.

Junior Kelsey Yori (Folsom, Pa./Ridley) led GM with four goals and an assist. Seniors Elizabeth Rand (Portland, Me./Catherine McAuley) had three groundballs and Amy Powell (Plymouth Meeting, Pa./Plymouth-Whitemarsh) recorded a career-high five draw controls.

Jacquelyn Strange had two goals and three assists for Alvernia (8-5). Junior Sarah Lombardi (Phoenixville, Pa./Phoenixville) also tallied for the Griffins.

Goalie Megan Rose (Perkasie, Pa./Pennridge) stopped a season-high nine saves. AU keeper Colleen Reilly made six.

Gwynedd Mercy will look to return to its winning ways with a CSAC Contest on Saturday at Immaculata. With a win, the Griffins can move closer to clinching a playoff berth.
