Gwynedd Mercy 4, Marywood 0

BOX SCORE

SCRANTON, PA. -- Junior Jamey Minnemeyer (Lansdale, Pa./Lansdale Catholic) tossed a complete game three-hit shutout to help Gwynedd Mercy to a 4-0 win over Marywood on Monday to take the three-game series.

Minnemeyer walked one and struck out a season-high 11 and junior Greg Brooks (Voorhees, N.J./St. Joseph's Pa.) knocked in two runs for the Griffins' fifth win in their last seven contests.

Freshman Frank Saviski (Aston, Pa./Monsignor Bonner) got things started with his RBI double in the second for a 1-0 lead. Brooks would also add an RBI double, this time in the sixth. Saviski would lead off the eighth with his second double of the game, and later score on an error. Later in the inning, Brooks made it 4-0 with a sac fly to score senior John Burns (Langhorne, Pa./Neshaminy).

It was more than enough for Minnemeyer who allowed one baserunner over the final three innings. He would get two double plays from his defense to help him toss his second career complete game shutout.

With the win, the Griffins improve to 18-12-1 and 12-3 in conference play and now have clinched the #2 playoff seed and a first-round home game next Wednesday.

Tomorrow they will host New Jersey City weather permitting in non-conference action starting at 4 p.m.
