BOX SCORE

GWYNEDD VALLEY, PA. -- Keystone spoiled Gwynedd Mercy's official home opener on Sunday, as the Giants posted a 16-1 win over the Griffins in CSAC action.

The Griffins got off to a rough start as Keystone's Lymbel Guerrero smacked a three-run homer in the first followed by two more runs in the second for a 5-0 deficit.

Gwynedd got one back in the third as sophomore David Blount (Croydon, Pa./Harry S. Truman) singled home junior Eric Heaney (Ambler, Pa./Hatboro-Horsham).

Guerrero would strike again in the fourth with an RBI triple. He would later score on a single to center to tack on two more runs. Keystone (12-11, 8-2 CSAC) opened up their lead with eight runs in the fifth on five hits, four walks, and a hit by pitch.

Keystone's Mike Pembleton went six innings, allowing one run on six hits to pick up the win. GM starter Jamey Minnemeyer (Lansdale, Pa./Lansdale Catholic) was touched up for seven runs (five earned) on seven hits in four innings of work. He would strike out four and walk three.

The Giants, who took two of three games in the weekend series, totaled 16 hits on the day. Guerrero was 2-for-3 with four RBI's, three runs scored, and two walks. Louis Reyes went 2-for-3 with two RBI's while Andre Castro added a bases loaded triple.

It was the first official home game of the season, due to the numerous scheduling of games from the harsh winter. The Griffins' two previous 'home' games were played at the opponent's site.

Gwynedd Mercy (13-10-1, 7-2 CSAC) will play at Arcadia on Tuesday in non-conference action starting at 4 p.m.
