GWYNEDD VALLEY, PA. -- Gwynedd Mercy fired off a season-high 43 shots en route to a 15-11 victory over Penn State-Abington Thursday afternoon.

Junior Kelsey Yori (Folsom, Pa./Ridley) led the charge, netting four of her game-high six goals in the second half. She would finish with seven points after an assist, to tie a personal-best. Sophomore Brianna Greer (Philadelphia, Pa./Bishop McDevitt) added five goals as the Griffins (4-5) were able to solve Abington goalie Sandy Cao, who made 19 saves.

Avery Winn had four goals for PSU (0-6) while teammate Katelyn Haas added three scores and an assist.

Gwynedd led by no more than three goals in the first half. The two squads traded goals in the final 4:09 of the half to keep GM ahead, 8-6, after 30 minutes. Goals from Yori and senior Amy Powell (Plymouth Meeting, Pa./Plymouth-Whitemarsh) to open the second opened up a four-goal lead. Yori would net an unassisted tally with 13:25 left for a 13-8 edge. The Nittany Lions pulled within two on goals from Winn and Haas, the latter coming with just over 10 minutes to play.

The Griffins collected 22 of 28 draw controls with Yori collecting 12. Her draw after a late PSU goal with 1:45 left, helped GM run out the clock to win improve to 3-1 at home this season.

Cao had 10 stops in the first half and nine in the second. Gwynedd goalie Megan Rose (Perkasie, Pa./Pennridge) recorded eight saves.

Gwynedd Mercy is right back at it on Saturday when they welcome Centenary in a CSAC matchup starting at noon.
