LAPLUME, PA. -- Gwynedd Mercy shot over 50% in the second half to pick up a key CSAC road with at Keystone, 90-74, Thursday evening.

Five Griffins finished in double figures led by sophomore Darnell Artis (Philadelphia, Pa./LaSalle College H.S.) with a game-high 21 points. Freshman Cedric Elleby (Monroeville, N.J./Delsea) established career highs in totaling 19 points, 16 rebounds, and six blocks. Junior Colin Gates (Boca Raton, Fl./Grandview Prep) added 14 while sophomores Brian Hennessey (Philadelphia, Pa./Father Judge) chipped in 13 and Julian Hyden (Trevose, Pa./Bensalem) with 12.

Duncan Lunsford led the Giants (9-11, 6-7 CSAC) with 20 points. Keystone, after shooting over 40% in the first, was just held by the Griffin defense to a 7-for-34 (20%) line in the second.

After trailing most of the first half, Gwynedd (15-5, 11-2 CSAC) erased a seven-point deficit over the final three minutes of the stanza to take a 40-37 lead into the break.
Hennessey, who hit three of the team's five three-pointers on the night, hit from long range to cap a 10-2 run to push the Griffin lead to 68-59 with 8:30 to go. Elleby's putback off a miss pushed the lead to 13 (80-67) with 2:20 showing. The Giants went into foul mode but GM was able to hit 8-of-10 at the line to ice the win.

Gwynedd reached the foul line a season-high 40 times and the defense had a season low 28% (17-of-59) opponent shooting.

The Griffins return to action on Monday when they travel to Immaculata for a CSAC matchup in a 7 p.m tipoff.
