Men's Hoops Ends Regular Season With A Win

(Trevose, Pa. / Bensalem) led all scorers with a career-high 22 points, as the sophomore shot 7-of-9 from the field, connecting on three field goals from beyond the arc.  Junior Justin Knight (Mays Landing, N.J. / Oakcrest) added 21 points for the second straight game, connecting on four three pointers.  Freshman Cedric Elleby (Monroeville, N.J. / Delsea) added 13 points and pulled down a team-high nine rebounds. 

Sophomores Darnell Artis (Philadelphia, Pa. / LaSalle College H.S.) and Brian Hennessey (Philadelphia, Pa. / Father Judge) added 13 and 12 respectively.

Rodney Duncan led the Mighty Macs with a team high 17 points.  Barry Brockington and Mamadou Diakite each added 13 points with Roy Ferrell Jr.  and Brandon Smith chipping in 11.

The Griffins never trailed in the contest, jumping out to an early 11-point lead (20-9) on a Knight layup with just over twelve minutes remaining in the half.  Knight would add to the lead to give GM their largest lead of the stanza (30-17) with his three ball with 6:31 remaining.  Gwynedd would take a 40-29 lead heading into the halftime break.

The Mighty Macs would cut the lead to seven in the second half but the Griffins would respond with a 10-2 spurt capped off by another Knight three pointer to put Gwynedd back ahead in double digits (65-50) midway through the second stanza.  Three minutes later Hyden would finish on a four-point play, hitting from behind the arc and drawing a foul to push the lead to 74-60. 

Hyden would put the game out of reach when he connected on his third three pointer of the night to keep the lead at 14 (82-68) with 3:48 remaining in the game. 
The Griffins scored nineteen second chance points of eleven offensive rebounds.  Overall, GM held the glass, outrebounding Immaculata , 31-30.

For the game Gwynedd shot a blistering 56.4% (31-of-55) from the field and 52.2% (12-of-23) from downtown.

Gwynedd is the #2 seed for the upcoming CSAC Tournament will now await their opponent for next Tuesday at the Griffin Complex in a semifinal game.  The Griffins can face Neumann, Immaculata or Rosemont who all will compete in the first-round on Saturday to start the playoffs.
