BOX SCOREHACKETTSTOWN, N.J. -- Gwynedd Mercy defeated Centenary, 84-64, Monday night on the road in Colonial States Athletic Conference action. With the victory the Griffins clinched the #2 seed and a first-round bye for the upcoming CSAC playoffs and will host a semifinal round game at the Griffin Complex on Tuesday, February 25th.
Justin Knight (Mays Landing, N.J. / Oakcrest) led all scorers with a game high 21 points, as the junior also collected a double-double pulling down 10 rebounds. Knight shot 7-of-9 from the floor and connected on three field goals beyond the arc. Sophomore
Brian Hennessey (Philadelphia, Pa. / Father Judge) recorded a career night, scoring a career-high 20 points on a career best five three pointers as well in his first start of the season. Fellow sophomore
Darnell Artis (Philadelphia, Pa. / LaSalle College H.S.) chipped in 10 points to round out the double digit scorers.
The Griffins (18-6, 14-3 CSAC) started the contest on na 11-0 run capped off by a Hennessey three at the 16:58 mark. Hennessey would keep the Griffins in front with his old fashioned three-point play with under four minutes remaining in the half to put GM up, 41-19. The Griffins would take a 50-27 lead heading into the halftime break.

Tom Catanoso (Cape May Court House, N.J. / Middle Twp.) jumper with 17:33 remaining in the game gave the Griffins their largest lead of the game, 56-30. The Cyclones would cut into the lead drawing within 17 but the Griffins would hold on for the 84-64 victory.
GM shot 40.9% (27-of-66) from the floor as they connected on 12 three pointers. The Griffins also won the battle of the boards outrebounding Centenary, 41-38.
Clayton Roker led the Cyclones (7-17, 6-11 CSAC) with a team-high 18 points, Joshua Case added 11.
The Griffins close out the regular season returning home Wednesday to host Immaculata at the Griffin Complex as part of a CSAC Doubleheader with the women. Tip-off is slated for 8 p.m.
