ASTON, PA. -- Gwynedd Mercy had their three-game win streak snapped in a close 77-74 CSAC loss at Neumann Monday night.

The Griffins (7-9, 4-3 CSAC), who trailed by as much as 15 early in the second and 13 with just under seven minutes to play, rallied to tie the contest up at 74-74 with 52 ticks on the clock. Neumann would hit three of four free throws to take a late lead and GM would put up a desperation three-pointer that was no good.

Senior Lauren Smith (Philadelphia, Pa./Archbishop Ryan) netted 21 points and junior Kelsey Yori (Folsom, Pa./Ridley) added 13 but the Griffins ran into foul trouble as the Knights (10-6, 7-2 CSAC) went 27-of-36 at the free-throw line.

Gwynedd shot just 22.9% (8-of-35) in the first half as Neumann would build a 37-24 halftime lead.

Spurred by seven second-half three-pointers, the Griffins put together a late 21-8 run capped with a bucket from Chandler DiFebbo (Phoenixville, Pa./Phoenixville) to tie the game at 74-74, but two key turnovers on consecutive possessions forced the Griffins to foul. Schlesman was able to hit three of four, the final two coming with 1.8 on the clock for a three-point lead.

In the battle of the boards, Gwynedd prevailed, 45-44. Junior Natasha Matthews (Norristown, Pa./Norristown) grabbed a team-high 11.
